The Birth of the GroovyBooth

What do you get when you put two fun professional photographers, a full onsite wedding reception studio and a bunch of merry wedding guests together? You get the most awesome GroovyBooth experience imaginable!

We originated this wedding photo booth concept years ago, just weeks before our first GroovyDoodle wedding.

Our main thought was “Wow… they have a lot of people coming in from out of town. You don’t see those extended family groups together and all dressed up that often. We should do onsite portraits for them so they really have framable pics of the extended family from the reception.” Needless to say, it was a hit – producing images from those original tame family portraits we’d envisioned to wild and crazy shots of the bride or groom with their best college buddies – and we’ve been doing it ever since.

Set up just outside the main reception area while everyone is dining after the ceremony, our GroovyBooth offers your guests a free photo booth experience – with professional-quality results! Because it’s our actual portrait studio (about 10′ x 10′) and not a tiny photo booth, we can get larger groups in front of the camera and print 4×6 keepsakes on-the-spot, watermarked with whatever information you’d like on them.

The Andersons asked us to meet with them for a family portrait session despite the snowy weather while their son was home on leave from the US armed forces, so once again we headed to our favorite winter venue, Franklin Park Conservatory. Here are just a few of our favorites from this session…

A warm and loving welcome to Baby Lauren, who joined the world a mere 4 days after these shots were taken. Mom and Dad were one of our first wedding clients and we are so thankful that we have been with them to capture so many special moments in their lives.

Maddie’s Headshot Session

Maddie is a former singing and acting student of Kate Mock Elliot, and needed some professional headshots for her upcoming college auditions. We were able to capture a nice mix of traditional and contemporary photographs so that she’d have plenty to choose from over the coming months.

Brandon’s Senior Shoot

We recently met Brandon and his mom at Erika & Nicole’s Columbus wedding. After having such a good time with us in the Groovy Booth, they decided to have us do Brandon’s senior portraits only a few weeks later. Because Brandon is a gamer (we can totally relate…), we even did some special photoshop editing on one of his pictures to give it a bit more of a gamer look. Check it out…

This little guy and his parents are back for their 2nd family photo shoot. With the Fall weather being so nice, we decided to meet them someplace different – a local pumpkin patch!
